Diesel Technician – Soweto

The following vacancy exists at our heavy vehicle client, based in Soweto. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal applicant will possess the following:-

  • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent qualification
  • NTC 2 or equivalent
  • Qualified Artisan Diesel Mechanic (Trade test certificate)
  • Valid code EC driver’s license and PrDP an advantage
  • Experience in maintenance of Iveco heavy duty vehicles
  • Above average working understanding and knowledge of bus electrical and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in all OEM campaigns and product upgrades to the vehicles.

JOB OUTPUTS

  • The incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Major and minor services
  • Carry out vehicle diagnostics using a laptop, be able to do the maintenance and repairs to faults to exact OEM standards.
  • Perform diagnosis and fault finding on bus configuration and repair vehicles to OEM standards.
  • Carry out breakdown recovery and repairs.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
  • Knowledge of Workshop procedures
  • Good knowledge of diesel engines
  • Electronically controlled vehicle management systems
  • Knowledge of Iveco Product/ Services and specifications
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Knowledge of the bus passenger industry.

  • Possess mechanical/auto electrical skills
  • Ability to implement planned work
  • Ability to strip parts and fault finding.
  • Ability to reassemble pumps, injectors and turbo chargers.
  • Ability to use tools correctly and safely.
