Our Truck Dealer client is looking to employ an experienced Technical Manager for their Branch in Pinetown.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The ideal applicant will possess the following:-
• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified Artisan or Engineering qualification.
• 8 – 10 years working experience in a technical environment.
• At least 5 years in a Management position, which includes managing a large staff compliment.
• A tertiary qualification in Road Transport Management will be an advantage.
• Proven track record of successfully managing a large workshop with commercial vehicles.

JOB OUTPUTS
• Manage and control the complete technical function in the Business Unit and ensure deadlines and quality budget standards are met.
• Ensure the effective management and maintenance of facilities, tool and equipment.
• Manager and develop/train Technical Personnel.
• Compile and manage the Department budget and targets within prescribed parameters and standards.
• Directly manage and control warrant/maintenance processes/systems and audits.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act in the Workshop.
• Manage service and Maintenance of all customer’s fleet.
• Manage and control all service level/quality requirements by the respective OEM’s.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Will be required to travel within the company’s operational areas.
• Will be required to work long and late hours and when required.

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of the commercial vehicle / transport industry.
• Background to the truck industry structures and best practices.
• Knowledge of the Technical / Engineering practices and procedures as they relate to the operation and maintenance of a commercial fleet.
• Understanding of the workshop operations and the inter-relationship with the other departments.
• Knowledge of the Key financial management Principles & Procedures, especially budget development and management.
• Knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures and related legislation.
• Knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and associated company disciplinary and grievance procedures.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Knowledge of stock management procedure and store management.
